Following on from last week’s Urban Regeneration and Development Fund announcements, Minister Humphrey’s this week announced the successful applicants of the second round of the Regional Enterprise Development Fund (REDF) worth over €29 million.

Administered by Enterprise Ireland the fund will run on a rolling basis as part of Project Ireland 2040. The REDF focuses on supporting Irelands regions and builds on their unique strengths to create sustainable jobs. Collaboration is at its core with partnerships between the public and private sector, within and across regions being a key factor in the successful applications.

From the call for proposals submitted in June 2018 twenty one successful applicants from across all regions in the country were selected to receive a funding allocation for their projects. Among the successful applicants was the Mountmellick Development Association who received €218,200 for their proposal to create the Beale Centre of Business Excellence.

The Beale Centre will be a state of the art business facility and a focal point for collaboration between state agencies, third level institutions and service providers that will assist new and existing enterprises. The facility will provide cutting edge technology along with open plan co-working desks, office pods, meeting and teleconferencing suites and state of the art commercial kitchens. Apart from the facilities the Beale Centre will also deliver a high level of physical, intellectual and emotional support and guidance through its partnerships with the focus of the business centre being to stimulate job creation in the region.

Chairman of Mountmellick Development Association Mr. Paul Dempsey welcomed Minister Humphrey’s announcement and stated that he and the Board of the MDA are looking forward to collaborating with so many great organisations to develop this initiative into providing sustainable jobs in Mountmellick, Laois and the Regions around Laois.
